Are you interested in learning more about health disparities and health equity issues in Alzheimer’s disease and clinical research? As we reported in a previous newsletter, Black/African American adults in the United States are about twice as likely as non-Latino/a/x white adults to develop Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

The Black Men’s Brain Health Conference is an annual event organized by a team of researchers studying Alzheimer’s and dementia, and is particularly focused on helping understand why Black men are more prone to Alzheimer’s disease. This year the Black Men’s Brain Health Conference is happening Feb 4 & 5, 2025 at Xavier University of Louisiana and is open to all and free to attend online, or in-person if you’re near New Orleans.

This year’s conference explores health equity issues in Alzheimer’s disease and related clinical trials, with a spotlight on the underrepresentation of Black men. The conference is sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association, the National Institute on Aging, and the NFL Alumni Association, amongst others. If you want to learn more about Alzheimer’s disease and health disparities and efforts towards health equity, this free conference might be of interest to you.
